A Beautiful Day--Birdwatching at Barren River

Sabbath afternoon was beautiful with a clear blue, nearly cloudless sky and temperatures in the 40's. We invited Daddy to go with us and went up to Barren River in Ky to do some birdwatching. We weren't sure how much ice we would find since the ice storm hit Ky pretty hard, but the only ice we saw was on the cliffs along the highway.
We didn't see many birds--some Ring-billed Gulls, a few Goldfinches, some Starlings and Robins, a Flicker, a Kingfisher, a Great-blue Heron, maybe a couple other small birds. The lake was beautiful, but "barren".
I did get a couple nice sunset pictures, though.

Snow!

Yesterday morning it was still a rain/sleet mix at about 8:00--by 8:15 it was snowing. The forecast said it was supposed to snow heavily until about noon. It did snow heavily, but only for about an hour and a half.
Our side yard
The trees and bushes each sported twinkly ice drops along each branch

We got just under an inch of snow
The snow blew up onto the porch covering the swing, the dog bowls, and....
Doobie!

Ice!

Monday night and in to Tuesday morning, we had ice--freezing rain--eventually it changed to just rain. We got over 4 inches of rain.

Let it Ice?

Monday's rain turned to ice overnight. Not a lot, just enough to make icicles and make things slippery.
