Snow! In April!!!

Tuesday morning we woke to a light dusting of snow! In April! I went out early and got pictures--good thing as it was all gone by 9:00. Our apple trees are in bloom, but I don't think it got cold enough to lose the crop. If you look closely, though, you can see the snow on the apple blossoms below.
Our hay bales looked like frosted shredded wheat!
The only thing growing in this garden is snow!
Does snow on the car make it a "snow mobile"?

Snow!

Yesterday morning it was still a rain/sleet mix at about 8:00--by 8:15 it was snowing. The forecast said it was supposed to snow heavily until about noon. It did snow heavily, but only for about an hour and a half.
Our side yard
The trees and bushes each sported twinkly ice drops along each branch

We got just under an inch of snow
The snow blew up onto the porch covering the swing, the dog bowls, and....

Trip to Roan Mountain--Part 5

Wednesday evening the rain turned to snow. This is what we saw on Thursday morning when we got up.
Our cabin
The folks in a neighboring cabin were up early and built this snowman.
We stopped at the Park Visitor Center on the way out so that I could take a few more pictures.
Our car
The road between Roan Mountain and Elizabethton was covered with snow and we drove slowly.
Between Johnson City and the Interstate, there was snow on the ground, but the roads were clear.
Once on the Interstate, the snow was visible on the mountains only.

By the time we got to Knoxville, the sky had cleared and was blue with fluffy clouds the rest of the way home.

Our Second Snowfall

Thursday evening we had our second snowfall of the season. It was somewhat unexpected as all the weather reports said that areas south and east of Nashville would be getting the snow.
It was just a light dusting--enough to turn things white.

I took the pictures on Friday morning before it all melted away.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow...

Last night was our first snow of the season. We had snow showers and mixed precipitation all day, but after dark enough snow fell to dust everything with white. This is what we saw when we woke up this morning.
