Friday was errand day. I had to go to Hendersonville to turn in T's first semester grades at Aaron Academy. Did a couple other errands then went to the car wash to wash off the salty residue from our trip.

Service Club
On Monday, the Aaron Academy Service Club had their Christmas meeting. (Aaron Academy is the homeschool organization where T is registered). The club members met at Aaron Academy, each bringing 2-3 dozen homemade cookies. They assembled the cookies onto gift trays and went out into Hendersonville to distribute them. They went to two fire stations.

Next, they went to city hall. They were given a tour of the building and got to sit in the city council seats.
They got to meet the Mayor of Hendersonville, ask him questions, get their picture made with him, and gave him cookies.
The last stop was at the Police Department. A uniformed officer came to collect the cookies and have a picture made with the group.
The kids all seemed to have a good time and the cookies were appreciated by all who received them.

School Starts
T started school yesterday--11th grade! Still homeschooling. He is doing Switched on Schoolhouse for Bible, History, Chemistry, Spanish, and College Planner (these subjects are all on the computer--assignments, grades, lessons, etc.). His Algebra 2 is from Saxon (traditional textbook--we'll have to make the assignments, grade his work, etc.--it does come with video instruction discs). He'll be taking Comp. 101 at the local community college this semester and receiving both college and highschool credit for English.

It's off to (Home) School (group) we go!
We signed up for a couple of field trips, reserved a year book, and then collected our pizza (one of the moms handles ordering pizza for those who sign up the week before--then Papa John's delivers it to the church) and went to the park to eat it.
