Trip to Roan Mountain--Part 4

Because of all the rain, we spent a lot of time in the cabin--playing Uno (and other games), visiting, and eating.

Trip to Roan Mountain--Part 1

Sunday, January 4, we (M, T, Dad, and I) set out to Roan Mountain State Park to visit my brother, Big E, and his wife and daughters who live near the Park. Our other brother, Little E, drove up and met us at the Park. We drove through patches of rain, fog and sunshine on the way there. This fog covered mountain was between Elizabethton and Roan Mountain.
After stopping for groceries in Elizabethton, we arrived at the Park about 4:15. We picked up our cabin key at the Park Headquarters and drove to the cabin parking lot.

There is no parking by the cabins. A large lot is near the entrance and paved trails go to each cabin. Handcarts (like you can see T pulling) are provided for carrying luggage. Fortunately, it wasn't raining when we "moved in". The cabin had a nice front porch with rockers--not much time was spent there though, due to the weather.

The cabin door opened into a large room with a living area at one end,
a wood stove in the middle,
and a dining area at the other end.
The kitchen was to the right of the dining area. It came equipped with stove, fridge, microwave, coffeepot, dishes, cutlery, pans, dish soap, etc.
The downstairs bedroom was to the right of the living area. It had a queen size bed with a pillow-top mattress.
There was a loft bedroom upstairs with two twin beds. Dad and Little E slept up here, T on an air mattress on the living room floor, and M and I in the bedroom.
