A Day in the Life...
5:00 a.m.--Got up and fixed lunch for M--he had to work in the office today
6:00 a.m.--Called Mr. M to make sure he was awake so he'd have time to get ready for a doctor's appointment
8:00 a.m.--Called Mr. M's primary care doctor's office to see if they could work him in
8:30 a.m.--Went to Mr. M's to take him to his doctor appointment
9:15 a.m.--Arrived at the Medical Office Building--let Mr. M out by the front door--went and parked in the parking garage
9:30 a.m.--Arrived at the orthopedist's office where they did another x-ray of Mr. M's arm. The orthopedist said again that he didn't see any break. Mr. M told him how his arm hurt still--the doctor manipulated the arm, said that the ligaments on the outside of the arm were ok, but that the inside ligaments were messed up. The decision was made to put the arm in a cast for 4-6 weeks to immobilize the ligaments and give them the opportunity to heal.
10:15 a.m.--Arrived at the primary care doctor's waiting room.
11:30 a.m.--Called back to the primary care doctor's exam room. An adjustment made to Mr. M's medication.
12:00 p.m.--Left the Medical Office building.
12:15 p.m.--Arrived at Cracker Barrel--had a good lunch.
1:15 p.m.--Went to Walmart--Mr. M was tired and stayed in the truck while I went in and did his shopping.
2:30 p.m.--Left for home. Stopped in town at the car repair shop he uses to speak to someone about a noisy tire.
3:30 p.m.--Arrived at Mr. M's. I unloaded and put away his groceries.
3:45 p.m.--I arrive home after stopping for the mail. I check e-mail, do some stuff on the computer, update my bird list, talk to T, take out my algebra homework and start it, etc.
5:00 p.m.--M arrives home from work. We decide on a "every man for himself" supper and eat.
6:00 p.m.--I head back to the homework, only to be side tracked by the computer--a check of e-mail and a "chat" with an old friend. Also, get a phone call from L.
7:30 p.m.--Return to the homework in earnest. Do a take-home quiz and problems from two sections in the chapter.
9:00 p.m.--Finally done with homework--re-pack backpack with books. Go see what's on the news. Tell T good-night.
9:30 p.m.--The weather report is over--head for bed.

Life Since the Camporee
Sunday evening, after we got home from the camporee, I called to check on Mr. M and found out that he had fallen into the ditch while getting his mail the afternoon before. He was hurrying because he could hear a car coming, dropped a piece of mail, went to pick it up, lost his balance and landed in the ditch. Fortunately, a neighbor was passing by, saw him fall, and got him out of the ditch and into the house. I went to Mr. M's to check on him--his right arm (dominant one, of course) was black and blue and swollen from the middle of his upper arm down to his wrist. I told him that we needed to get it checked out.
Monday, I took Mr. M to his primary care doctor who took one look at the arm and sent us to an orthopedist. They took an x-ray of his elbow--said there was no visible break. Instructions were to keep it elevated. By the time we went to two doctors, lunch, and Walmart--the day was gone.
Tuesday afternoon, I went and fixed Mr. M some supper, filled his pill box, fed Pepper, etc.
Wednesday I did some urgently needed grocery shopping and studied (somewhat) for an algebra test. Home Health came out and did an assessment of Mr. M.
Thursday was the algebra test. Home health began coming out to check on Mr. M--help with dressing, shaving, bathing, etc.
Friday and Sabbath were fairly uneventful--just the usual stuff going on.
Sunday I went to Sonic and got Mr. M some lunch and went to do some laundry for him. He only ate a couple bites of food. I went back later and made up his beds with clean sheets. That evening, he called wanting to go to the ER--his grandson and I both told him to call 911--he did. I went to his house and pulled in right behind the ambulance. The EMTs checked his vitals and said they were normal, but they would take him to the ER if he still wanted to go. He decided to stay home.
Monday, T wasn't feeling well so we skipped the monthly homeschool meeting. By evening, he was feeling better, so we went to piano and Pathfinders.
Tuesday, I got my algebra test back--actual score was 84 but the teacher had given everyone 11 points raising my score to a 95%. I picked up a house mounted mailbox for Mr. M on the way home (his doctor had written a letter to the post office saying that his mail should be delivered to the door--the mailman had started doing so the day before). I also went and voted before going to Mr. M's and mounting the mailbox.
Wednesday, we (Mr. M and I) went back to the orthopedist for another x-ray. Still no sign of a break, though his arm was still very bruised, tender, and swollen. We ate lunch in the hospital cafeteria then went to his primary care doctor to discuss his episode on Sunday night and his medications. That was followed by a trip to Walmart--Mr. M got a haircut while I shopped for him and got his prescriptions filled. Then we came home.

So, what has happened since the State Fair?
Thursday, I had my first Algebra test.
Friday, I had to go to the doctor's office to pick up a prescription for Mr. M (they can't call or fax for this medication). I picked up the prescription, went to Walmart, got gas, was headed for home when I thought I ought to look at the prescription to see if it was right. It had been handed to me in an envelope with Mr. M's name on the front--I opened the envelope and discovered that the prescription had been filled out with the wrong name! I called the doctor's office--the nurse said to come back and get another one. I went back and waited over 40 minutes for the doctor to sign the new one--then headed for home--stopped and got the prescription filled (got to the pharmacy just before it closed).
Sabbath, went to Sabbath School and Church--then went to Mr. M's in the afternoon to take him his medicine.
Sunday morning, our family and the Pathfinder Director's family met and cleaned out and inventoried the chuck wagon. We wanted to see what was in it and what needed to be replaced. We finished just as the rain from Ike came in.
Monday, I went to the dentist. My teeth had been hurting for quite a while--finally got an appointment. I took T with me in case I needed him to drive home. They took x-rays--said I have an abcessed baby tooth. The dentist said he wanted to try and save it--did a root canal and put a temporary cap on it. Then we went to a Walgreens down the street and got prescriptions for an antibiotic and a pain pill.
Monday evening was Pathfinders and T's first piano lesson of the school year. We met early for a staff meeting--T did his piano lesson--then we had Pathfinders. We had to meet at the elementary school gym since an evangelistic series is going on at the church and they are using the room we usually meet in. The pathfinders got their Bible Achievement notebooks and study materials, did some drilling and marching, tied some knots, worked a little on a camping skills honor--then it was time to go home.
Tuesday, I got my Algebra test back--83.5%!! Yea!!!
Wednesday, I helped Mr. M take his lawn mower to get fixed. We got groceries, then stopped at an auto parts store for a new battery for his truck. We came home and put the groceries away and unhitched the trailer, then went to lunch in town. When I got home, T was going to mow our grass, but he needed more gas. I went to the closest gas station (about 4 miles away). I noticed the car was driving funny--had trouble accelerating from a stop or even slow for a curve. Since I was planning to take the car to our mechanic in the morning (to see if he could get the emission test to pass with the mobile unit that comes to our town once a month), I called to see if he'd have time to check it. Mr. M said I could use his truck to get to school on Thursday, since the car would be at the mechanic's.
After supper, I reminded M that the car was driving funny. He thought he'd drive it and see what it was doing--I went with him. We got about 3/4 of the way up the driveway and the car wouldn't go forward anymore. So, M put it in reverse and backed down the drive. Then he tried again to go up the driveway. This time it only went about half way before refusing to go forward. So, again, he put it in reverse and backed it down the drive and parked it.
Thursday morning, M talked to our mechanic (needless to say, it wasn't going in for the emissions test). He said it was the transmission. When I left for school, M was trying to track down a transmission for it.
T and I went to school in Mr. M's truck--after class I had to go to the office to fill out a form proving that I am enrolled and attending--I got a summons for jury duty--they wanted me to be on call for the month of November--I filled out their form saying I was in school--they wrote back wanting proof. Then we got the emissions test done on the truck and got the new sticker for the license plate.
Meanwhile, M found a transmission--went and got it--took it to the mechanic--came home and had me call for a tow truck to get it to the mechanic's. Hopefully, it will be ready by the first of the week.
Today, was a busy day of trying to catch up on housework.

Algebra and More Algebra
While M was working on the apples, I was working on Algebra. I did 63 practice questions on the online tutorial (all the ones that corresponded with the homework assignment) hoping it would help me remember what to do when I got to the actual homework. The homework assignment had 41 questions. It took hours(to do both the tutorial and the homework)!!! I was so glad to be done!

Hitting the Books
My comprehensive final exam in Beginning Algebra is Thursday night. So far, I've done half of the review problems--only missed a few. Hopefully, will go as well for the test.

All work, no play
At 7:10 this morning, Mr. M called to see if I had called him at 7:00 to wake him up (I was going to call him at 7:30). I called his doctor's office at 8:00 to see if we could move his first appointment up a bit so we wouldn't be pushed to make each appointment (he had three scheduled today). I called Mr. M back a few minutes after 8:00 to remind him to take his medicine and let him know that the first appointment had been changed to 10:30.
At 9:15, I went to Mr. M's house to load his walker into the pickup--checked his morning medicine and found that he hadn't taken it yet, so had him take it--put his 2:00 medicine in my purse since we wouldn't be home by then--fed the cats--gave Pepper her medicine--left for the Dr. about 9:30.
Arrived at the Dr. about 10:15--let Mr. M out at the front door--unloaded his walker--parked in the parking garage--went inside and met Mr. M.--went to the third floor to the Dr.--finished the first appointment (including a trip to the lab for a blood draw) at about 11:30.
Next appointment was at 12:45--decided to eat in the hospital cafeteria since there wasn't time to drive to Cracker Barrel and back (and eat) before the next appointment.
Went back up to the third floor for the next appointment at about 12:30--finished that appointment by about 1:45.
Returned to the first floor--went past the cafeteria to our third appointment--got there a bit before 2:00 for a 2:30 appointment--gave Mr. M his 2:00 medicine--didn't have to wait long--left at 2:20.
From there we went to Wal-mart--Mr. M was tired so I went in and got a few groceries for each of us--left Wal-mart about 3:30. Arrived at Mr. M's about 4:15--carried in his groceries and put them away--collected his pill cups to refill--Mr. M said he wanted me to take him to the restaurant in town for supper.
Got home--called the pharmacy for refills--filled the pill cups--checked e-mail--said "hello" and "good-bye" to family (T was off to piano lesson and Pathfinders with his dad). I went back to Mr. M's--brought in his mail--put his pill cups on his desk--fed the cats--gave Pepper her medicine--took out the trash (all while waiting for him to change his clothes)--then took him to the restaurant.
I dropped him off after supper at about 6:50--went home and did Algebra homework (test on Thursday night--still much homework and studying to be done) until 8:00 when I called Mr. M to remind him to take his night time pills.
