In Memory of Mr. M

In memory of Mr. M who died Friday, March 6, 2009--age 89 years. He was in the hospital for about two weeks with pneumonia. After his death, he was cremated. His family and friends gathered this afternoon at the pond behind his house to remember him and scatter his ashes into the pond. He was a homebody--no place he would rather be than home--so now he is.
Mr. M was both a friend and neighbor. For about four years, I cleaned his house for him. About 2 1/2 years ago I became his caregiver--taking him to doctor appointments, shopping, Cracker Barrel, etc. I kept up with his medicine, took the cats to the vet, ran errands, and helped with whatever he needed.
This is Pepper--his oldest and dearest cat. She is a teenager--somewhere between 14 and 17. I am still taking care of the cats while the family tries to find new homes for them (Pepper will probably come here).

Socks is about 3 years old. He loves to go in and out (so would not be happy living with me as he would have to be an indoor cat because of the dogs).
