State Fair--Part 11

After the petting zoo, the kids did some gem mining in the old time village.

We watched cane being juiced to make sorghum.

We stopped and had a funnel cake, then left for home. It was a good but tiring day.

At the horse show, they had lipizzan and andalusian and one other kind of horse.

State Fair--Part 7

On our way from the model railroad to the horse show, we stopped for a few minutes to watch the motocross riders doing jumps.

State Fair--Part 6

We walked back to the car for lunch, then returned to the Exhibition Building to see the Model Railroad.

They had a large layout that took up the whole end of the building.

State Fair--Part 5

From the Agriculture Building, we went to the Creative Arts Building. There they had sewing, leathercraft, cake decorating, photography, paintings, and a few other things.
A wedding dress
One of many beautifully detailed quilts
A very detailed cake

This guitar has a leatherwork case
This prize-winning picture was in the amateur teen division.

State Fair--Part 4

After the Rabbit and Poultry barn, we went to the Agriculture Building. This is where the 4-H Clubs, FFA, and other groups have their displays. It is also where canned good, garden produce, hay, etc. are displayed.

A prize-winning insect collection

First-place bell peppers

Different kinds of hay

An assortment of garden vegetables

Here's the pickled peppers that Peter Piper picked!

The largest pumpkin--weighing in at 1089 pounds!

A display by one of the school groups--healthcare.

State Fair--Part 3

Next we went to the Rabbit and Poultry Barn. It was warm in there and they had fans blowing on the rabbits to cool them down.

This angora rabbit seemed to appreciate the fans.

Don't know if this is an angora chicken.

My favorite chickens are the ones with funny hairdos.

Here's looking at you!

State Fair--Part 2

After the sheep, we looked briefly at pigs (of which there were only a couple) and cows. These brown jerseys have a deer-like appearance to me.

It must not have been cow showing day, for there were only a couple dozen cows in attendance.
