An Eventful Week

Sunday--After returning home, I did six loads of laundry at my house and two loads at Mr. M's. Mr. M's son,D, and daughter-in-law,T, cut their Florida vacation short and drove up here.

Monday--I called Mr. M at 8:00 for medication reminder--called again about 9:15 and he still hadn't taken his meds--he took them then. D and T came by and I gave them the information I had typed up regarding Mr. M's medication, doctors he's seen, appointments already made, etc. They started working on tying up loose ends regarding moving Mr. M to assisted living. I did six more loads of laundry.

Tuesday--I called Mr. M--he had a Dr. appointment. He said he wouldn't be ready--I went over and gave him his medicine--tried to talk him into getting ready--finally cancelled the appointments. I went home after D and T arrived. They moved Mr. M down to the assisted living after lunch. The kids and I had gone to the library and stopped by the assisted living just as they were moving Mr. M in. We visited with him in the common living area while D and T got his room settled. Went home and fed his kitties.

Wednesday--M went to work. L came in and announced that the stray dog she brought home a week or so before campmeeting had just had puppies--seven of them. I made flyers and put them up at two vet offices and advertised on freecycle. Also fed Mr. M's kitties.

Thursday--Fed Mr. M's kitties. Gathered up a load of stuff to take to Goodwill. Fixed lunch. T and I went to town and dropped off the stuff at Goodwill, got heartworm medicine for Snoopy and Doobie, some food at Walmart, some corn for the squirrels, then stopped by and visited Mr. M for a little while on our way home. Fed the kitties again--checked on the puppies--did dishes--put away groceries.

Yes, I still work

View on the road between our house and Mr. M's--about half a mile between our driveways.

Wednesday was our last Dr. appointment--but, I haven't done nothing since then.

Thursday morning I went to Mr. M's and got his shopping list--then picked up stuff for him while I was in town for the Science Expo and class. Also did the three phone calls for medication reminders.

Friday I dropped off his stuff before taking T to his achievement test--picked up a few more things for Mr. M that I didn't have time to get on Thursday. I dropped those off in the afternoon--he said he wanted to go out for dessert. After fixing supper for Mike and T (so they could get to Bible Achievement practice), I took Mr. M to the local restaurant. He decided not to go in--had me go in and buy a whole pecan pie and a whole coconut meringue pie--then go to the grocery store and get some vanilla ice cream to go with the pies. We went back to his house and had a slice of each kind of pie--then he had me save him a piece of each--after that we went to Daddy's and gave him a piece of each--then I came home with the rest. Plus, the three phone calls for medication reminders.

Yesterday, just the phone calls.

This afternoon when I called to remind him about his medicine, he told me he didn't have any. So, I went over with his afternoon medicine--got there about the same time as his grandson. I offered to go home and fill the pill cups, but was asked to stay and visit. The grandson left about 4:00 and Mr. M wanted me to take him to the nearest KFC (about 18 miles east of here). We went and had supper--made a stop at Walmart--we came home--I fed his kitties and gave Pepper her medicine--then brought his pill cups home to fill up.

Back to Work

I went to Mr. M's to clean this morning. I swept the kitchen, scooped the litterbox, picked up trash (unwanted mail) off the floor and threw it away, fed the kitties and took out the trash.

I called Mr. M when we got home from mower shopping to let him know we were home. He came over to see the new mower. Then he wanted me to take him out to eat. By the time we got to the end of our driveway, he had decided that he'd rather I'd cook him some macaroni and cheese. I took him home and looked in his cupboard--no mac 'n cheese. He sent me to town for mac 'n cheese and told me to buy a pie at the restaurant.

I got the groceries and pie, came back to his house and fixed the mac 'n cheese, some frozen broccoli and corn, and opened a can of Cedar Lake Dinner Steaks (I had bought this for him a month or so ago when he wanted canned meat). We ate supper--followed by pecan pie and chocolate ice cream. I put his leftovers into divided dishes that he can microwave later this week. I fed the kitties, gave Pepper her medicine, did the dishes, and wiped up the kitchen.

I also did our daily phone calls--every day at 8 am, 2 pm, and 8 pm--I call to remind him to take his medicine.
