Kentucky Down Under

Thursday, we went on a field trip to Kentucky Down Under. It is about an hour north of us.

It started as a cave attraction with a few animals topside to entertain the visitors who were waiting to go through the cave. In the early 1990's, they began to specialize in Australian animals--hence, Kentucky Down Under.

We saw Australian birds, dingos, kangaroos, a black swan, sheep and sheepdog, emus, a white ibis. The kids went through the cave (though the guide didn't give the tour speech--just told them to watch their step). I decided to skip the cave in case I got dizzy again.

We had to leave early--before the snake show, storytelling, and sheep show so that L and I would have time to drop off T, get our books, and get to class.

A Brief Summary of Last Week

Monday--I took Mr. M to Cracker Barrel and Walmart.

Tuesday--The dryer quit working--naturally, since I was still catching up on laundry from our trip.

Wednesday--I woke up early in the morning, went to the bathroom then back to bed. As soon as I lay down, the bed began to rock and the room began to spin. It felt like a carnival ride. I can't remember ever being so dizzy. This continued for several hours. I finally called L to come down and check my blood sugar and pressure. She said I looked as bad as I felt--she called and got me a Dr. appointment and drove me there. Dr. gave me medication for motion sickness--some sort of inner ear malfunction. The medicine knocked me out for the rest of the day.

On the good side, the repairman came and fixed the dryer.

Thursday--T had a field trip to Kentucky Down Under. L went in case I felt dizzy again. We had to leave early because L and I had class at 6:00. I went to class and felt like I had no idea what the teacher was talking about (hoping this was lingering effects of the medication since the comprehensive final is next Thursday).

Friday--I had to go to one of Mr. M's doctor's offices to pick up a prescription that they couldn't call or fax to the pharmacy--got his prescription filled and some refills--had to take T to Portland for a Pathfinder campout by 5:30.

Sabbath--Neither M nor I were feeling great, so we stayed home from church and slept. Went and picked up T at 7:30 p.m.
