After stopping for groceries in Elizabethton, we arrived at the Park about 4:15. We picked up our cabin key at the Park Headquarters and drove to the cabin parking lot.

There is no parking by the cabins. A large lot is near the entrance and paved trails go to each cabin. Handcarts (like you can see T pulling) are provided for carrying luggage. Fortunately, it wasn't raining when we "moved in". The cabin had a nice front porch with rockers--not much time was spent there though, due to the weather.

The cabin door opened into a large room with a living area at one end,

and a dining area at the other end.

The kitchen was to the right of the dining area. It came equipped with stove, fridge, microwave, coffeepot, dishes, cutlery, pans, dish soap, etc.

Not that is matters :-) but the fog covered mountain is in Hampton. Part of Hampton High School is visible at the extreme left of the picture. This is also where you may have seen a fat, low, green water tower with a bulldog painted on it. The bulldog is the mascot of the local sports team the Hampton Bulldogs.
