The White House Pathfinder club invited our club to join them for a Mulligan Stew yesterday.
T wasn't feeling well and stayed home. M and I went as did our club director and her family.

A Mulligan Stew is like Stone Soup--everyone brings something to add to the pot. Our stew had tomato juice, potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, beans, corn, bell pepper, and probably some other stuff not so easily identifiable. It was quite tasty.

While the stew was cooking, the pathfinders (and anyone else who wanted to) were challenged to build a fire that would make the water in their billy-can boil.

One of the White House Pathfinders was successful.

Then, they could bake their own cornbread in a pie iron over their fire.

A skillet was also kept busy making corn cakes. They were tasty too!

Not much stew was left by the end of the event--probably even less than this pictures shows since several people dropped by late and were eating after I took this picture.

A hayless hay ride brought the event to its conclusion. Even though temperatures hovered around 40 and the sky was overcast, it was a fun event.
